Is she? She goes by the name of Kao in this strange world called Internet. Her identity in the supposedly real world is not a secret, but she never discloses it unnecessarily
She is French but was too curious about the New World to quietly stay on the old continent. She is currently and temporarily living in Connecticut, under the pretence of being an exchange student
She has lived more than 21 years on this Earth
She has this little rewarding but so easy occupation of being a student. She has studied the English speaking world for 3 years at her university and is now supposed to be specializing in American history. But she is just pretending, all she wants is improving her English and see the world. She is also studying Japanese
She is a girl but is often annoyed by this mere fact. She is self-centered but not really egoist. She is open-minded but somewhat close-minded. She is a loner but not lonely. She is full of principles but really easy-going. She is self-conscious but indifferent. She is easily stressed but very careless. She is strange and different but deep inside, she's probably just like these other girls that she can't identify with. She just thinks too much and has difficulties understanding her own kind
She enjoys the whimsical pictures and entertainment imported from the Land of the Rising Sun. She literally worships a story dealing with alchemy and two brothers having committed an inerasable sin. Her personal world is full of goods relating to this passion. She finds it hard to get interested in the common distraction of the mass and thus often feels alienated from the Others, but she knows where to find followers of the same cult and had never been truly alone.

Her journal is a reflection of her life and mind. Using tools handed to anybody in the Internet world, she relates her every day life online and share it with her small world, in the casual writing style of a brainless but literate Internet fangirl. She writes more than the Others but she certainly enjoys it more than them. Her writings are of no interest to the general world. She has not lived many adventures nor suffered through hardships. She just leads a simple student life even duller than average and whose only spices are her travels. Although she writes almost daily in her native language, she frequently uses English in her journal. She usually just repeats the important points of her French entries but has also discovered she felt more at eased using her adopted language for expressing more personal concerns.

She wants to remember. She has a propensity to forget good and bad memories that the Others would perfectly remember. She feels like she has not lived if she does not record the important facts every day. She would probably lead an easier life if she was not spending so much time forcing herself to reminisce on a past that she would naturally forget, but it is the choice she made. She enjoys this exercise and will probably never stop. She gives it away to the world to prove herself she is not alone.
She also needs to write down every piece of a problem before she can catch a glimpse of its solution.

...to read her? Just ask her. Her secretive character forces her to open herself only to those she can trust, but paradoxically, she would more easily trust a total stranger than people she knows and sees everyday. She especially shies away from member of her family or close friends and feel distressed everytime someone close to her discovered her inner self without her approval.
